Labyrinths - a tool for calm and contemplation

Find your calm, follow your path.

Labyrinths are a great tool for slowing down, finding your calm, and giving you time to contemplate life.

When you are frazzled, they can bring you calm.

When you can't see the way through, or what to do, they can bring you clarity.

When there are choices and decisions to be made, they can help your thoughts to unravel.

When there is a lot going on, they can give you the space and time to slow down, and just be.

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth is a single path to follow to the centre, and back out. No decisions to be made. Just put one foot in front of the other.

I use labyrinths with my clients.

"The aim of a maze is to find its centre; the aim of the labyrinth is to find your centre."

In this e-course you will find how to draw a labyrinth, and then how to create one, using household items: a small one for your finger to follow, or a bigger one to walk.

There are step by step instructions and videos on how to make a labyrinth using scarves, coins, plasticine, string.

There is also a guide on how to walk a labyrinth, with your feet or your fingers, with tips on how to make the most of the experience.

There is also a virtual labyrinth walk around my favourite labyrinth, at Tofte Manor in Bedfordshire, and a downloadable MP3 of a relaxation to listen to before walking your labyrinth.

I hope you will enjoy making and using labyrinths. Once you know how you can enjoy and use them whenever you need a bit of calm. Make them part of your morning or evening ritual, or a Sunday morning mindfulness session.

I have made string labyrinths, clay labyrinths and scarf labyrinths for myself and for clients. I made a large rope labyrinth for Tribal Hearts family festival in 2019, and I'll be there in 2021 with a light labyrinth, and labyrinth making workshops.

If you have children this is a fun activity to do with them.

If you would like to join me for a retreat day at Tofte Manor check out my webpage.

I also have wellbeing retreat boxes which include a labyrinth notebook/journal, and a labyrinth exercise.

I help pregnant people and new parents find and follow their own path to being Chilled Mamas and Papas.

I am a woman who likes to make her own mind up. I like facts and logic, which is why I like to go behind the guidelines and recommendations, to look at the research and get a better understanding. I will go off the beaten path if that is right for me and my family. I home educate my two youngest. I think everybody makes different choices with the same information because we all bring the perspective of our experience and upbringing.

I am a doula, an antenatal teacher, pregnancy relaxation teacher, baby massage teacher, baby wearing adviser, parenting practitioner and ex-breastfeeding peer supporter.

I'm also a home birthing, co-sleeping, washable nappy using, baby wearing, full term breastfeeding, gentle parenting, autism mama. I have stepped off the standard path and found my own way ~ and I'd like to help you find yours.

I live in Bedfordshire. I love walking in the woods, labyrinths, and snuggling up on the sofa to watch films and tv series. I am a tea lover, a beach lover, and chocolate lover. I have five children, aged 10, 16, 18, 23, & 25. Only three still live at home.
